Kishore Club win Baramunda Cup football title

Local outfit Kishore Club emerged champions in the Baramunda Cup Football Tournament, defeating Government Sports Hostel (Cuttack) 1-0 in the final at Biju Patnaik Ground here today. Sankar Munda scored the all-important goal off a penalty kick in the 32nd minute.
Kishore Club received top prize of Rs 15,000 and Sports Hostel were given Rs 10,000. Prakash Padhiary (Sports Hostel) and Sasikanta Sandil (Kishore Club) won the man of the match and man of the tournament awards respectively.
State Sports Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi handed over the trophy at the closing function. Altogether eight teams participated in the tournament, which was organised by Baramunda Youth Association.

January 28 (QF No 1):
Chand Club, Cuttack (Imran Khan, Sk Fahim, Imtiaz Ali) beat Friends Paradise, Jatni (Sujit Barik) 3-1.
January 29 (QF No 2): Kishore Club (Sasikanta Sandil 11th) beat Gallant Club, Cuttack (Papu Nayak 53rd) 6-5 in tie-breaker (Full time: 1-1).
January 30 (QF No 3): Maa Bhuasuni Club, Cuttack (Jitendra Das) beat Friends & Friends , Bhubaneswar 1-0.
January 31 (QF No 4): Government Sports Hostel, Cuttack (Sunil Sardar) beat R K Academy, Kanpur) 1-0.
February 1 (SF No 1): Kishore Club (Prakash Jena 37th, 50th, Manoj Soren 38th) beat Chand Club 3-0.
February 2 (SF 2): Government Sports Hostel beat Maa Bhuasuni Club 4-2 in tie-breaker.
February 3 (Final): Kishore Club (Sankar Munda) beat Govt Sports Hostel 1-0.
